Navy Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in the U.S. with assets in excess of $171 billion, serving over 13.5 million people around the world and with over 350 branches worldwide. The member-owned, not-for-profit credit union offers financial services, including a range of credit cards, for officers and enlisted men and women of all branches of the military, veterans, Department of Defense employees and their family members.

As with any issuer, it may be possible to receive pre-qualification offers. Here’s what you need to know.

How To Get Pre-Qualified for Navy Federal Credit Union Credit Cards

The Navy Federal Credit Union offers six credit cards to its members:

There are two ways to determine whether you are eligible to be a cardholder prior to applying:

To generate a pre-qualification, members can go directly to Navy Federal’s credit card pre-qualification page and click on the blue “Prequalify Me for a New Card” button. Once you do, you’ll need to log in to your Navy Federal account and then provide some basic information. After that, all you need to do is wait for your information to be processed.

What Documents Are Required for Navy Federal Credit Union Credit Cards Pre-qualification

Navy Federal Credit Union will pull your name, address, date of birth and Social Security number from your member profile but you’ll still need to answer three questions:

Navy Federal will then use your information to run a soft credit pull with the credit bureaus and verify your identity. A soft inquiry does not affect your credit score and a pre-qualification can be a good way to gauge your odds of being approved. Remember though that pre-qualifying for a credit card does not offer any guarantees and your approval is still dependent on a hard credit inquiry.

What To Do if You Don't Pre-Qualify for Navy Federal Credit Cards

While pre-qualifying for a credit card does not guarantee approval, it also does not necessarily mean you won’t be approved. If you don’t pre-qualify for a Navy Federal credit card, you still have the option to apply for a card online, by visiting a branch or by calling 1-888-842-6328.

Keep in mind that four factors may affect the outcome of your application:

If your application is approved and your phone number is on file, you’ll receive a text notification and your card will arrive in the mail within seven to 10 days of approval. If your application is not approved, you’ll receive a letter within 30 days explaining the reason.
